Primary Goal for Website:

Trish wanted a website that was not only easier for her to manage, but easier for her clients to understand the experience, which is to be with her clients through the most monumental moments in the early part of their lives... wedding & motherhood. The experience clients get with Trish is personalized and she goes the extra mile to make them feel comfortable and to enjoy the experience start to finish. When a visitor lands on her homepage, she wanted it to be easy to understand and easy to navigate with a showcase on her best work.

The ultimate goal with Trish's design was to allow her bubbly personality to shine through as well as create a clean and comfortable space for her clients and potential clients to visit.  Working with Trish was a dream and I love how her website project came to life!  I hope you love it as much as I loved creating it!

An Interview with Trish:

Where and/or how did your passion for what you do begin?:

I've always loved photographs. When I was a teen my room was covered floor to ceiling in 4x6 photos I took of me and my friends. I took a couple photography courses in high school and in college just "for fun". Once I graduated I accepted a creative marketing position and worked as a creative director behind the scenes at photo shoots. I always knew I loved capturing photos, but once I started doing photos of friends and family, the referrals came in and by business started evolving! I just recently took photography full-time and am so thrilled to be living out my passion.

What is the BEST lesson you've learned since starting your own business?:

OUTSOURCING! As a business owner you need to wear SO many hats. How can one person possibly be good at accounting, law, website development, marketing, editing, AND photographing, let alone have the time to do it all? I outsource things that aren't my expertise or things that consume too much of my time so I can focus on business strategy and customer experience. Work smarter not harder, have others help!

What do you wish someone would have told you when starting out?:

I wish someone would have told me to never give discounts. Always value your work and stand by your pricing. Never undervalue yourself or sell yourself short, you are worth it! Giving discounts will likely land you in the hands of clients that don't value photography as much as they should, and will set their expectations at that level if they choose to book with you again in the future.

When did you realize it was time for a rebrand and/or new website?:

When I went full-time I knew my website was going to be my new pride and joy. When people asked what I did for a living and requested to see work, I wanted to be PROUD of what I was showing them. It was time to not just "get by" with what I could afford or what I had time to pull together. I wanted something that would amaze anyone that came upon the page and something that would help me stand apart from competition.

What would you say to someone who is on the fence about hiring a designer to help them with their website?:

This is your business billboard and something that you need to invest in! You'll receive your money back in bookings when people are amazed by your showcase of work.

What is your absolute favorite thing about your final website design?:

I love how easy it is to navigate. The layout is clean and straightforward, yet also interactive and unique. Mostly, I love how it's a TRUE reflection of my personality and my brand!

A note from the designer

Emma Rose Company is a Squarespace website designer and photographer who primarily works with photographers to help them reach their business goals through thoughtful design..png

I am a self-made, self-taught photographer, web designer and educator who’s learned most of the lessons I teach the absolute hardest way. I fell in love with photography (and, really my own creativity) after my own wedding when I borrowed my father’s camera just to play around with it — turns out when you do something you love, you want to do it all.the.time.

I learned along the way what burnout looks and feels like and made it my mission to help other creative entrepreneurs avoid it all together. Instead of quitting on my dreams, I decided to turn my life around and all of that started with me. I started running and working out, lost 50+ pounds on a health and wellness journey and finally found my happiness along the way.

Using the same accountability I did in my personal journey, I began to put systems in place (and a team of people who support me) to finally run a business I love and show up well for my family, friends and clients.

Now, in all facets of my business I get to help lead others to do the same.
