Natalie + Jake
if you’ve never been to great the smoky mountains, you should go ahead and add it to your list of “must see” places!
Blogging is one of my favorite things to do but also can be frustrating because I have shoots where I want to blog them IMMEDIATELY, but I have to be patient with the “blog calendar.” I’ve changed so many things on the back end of my business over the past year and one of those is actually having a kick-ass system for this little blog of mine that I love so much!
Anyway… back to the point of this post — Natalie and Jake! Wow — as I put this together I was immediately taken down memory lane to just a few months ago. Okay, October to be exact!
You may recognize this beautiful pair from two other posts on my blog.
I just can’t get enough of them… really! We met on Instagram when I was in search of a fun-loving couple to come model for a styled shoot I had planned on our ranch. Natalie emailed me and we simply hit it off. Then I met Jake and it all just made sense. First being that we were meant to find each other and become friends and two, that these two were beyond meant to find one another and their love is one of the sweetest things I’ve had the privilege of seeing first hand (on more than one occasion!)
We had such an amazing time together on the ranch that when they moved to Nashville and got married shortly after moving, they asked me if I’d come down to visit and take some post-wedding portraits.
And by portraits I mean an epic trip to the Great Smoky Mountains for the most gorgeous romantic portraits.
I’d only been to Tennessee one other time for Abby and Kyle’s amazing Chattanooga wedding celebration which was a total blast so I was eager to see another area of the state! The Smoky Mountains are incredible. We didn’t quite realize just how much driving would be involved and for the first time ever, I actually got car sick for a good chunk of the time driving around BUT I never threw up — so there’s that. Besides that, everything was perfect! :) We stayed in a funky little air bnb at the base of the National Park and got up at the crack of dawn for the images you’re about to see below.
The map above is that of the famous Cades Cove, an 11 mile loop that you can either drive or walk — or why the heck not RUN if you’re feeling ambitious.
Heading into the loop at dawn was breathtaking. There was a fog covered mist that made for the most magical images that we captured on Hyatt Lane. Seriously, it was straight out of a dream and the wildlife was everywhere! I’m quite glad we didn’t see any bears but we saw so many other animals, it was amazing.
I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to fly across the country for these two because not only are the photos simply to die for, so was the entire experience. They opened up their home and hearts to me and I’ll forever be grateful for that day I put out a little call on Instagram looking for a cute couple madly in love!
