Hi, I’m Emma.

I’ve always been a little hard to put into one box.

Photographer. Designer. County Clerk. Wife to cattle rancher. Mom. Chronic rearranger of furniture. Very enthusiastic homebody. And, apparently, someone who can spend an unreasonable amount of time thinking about a pantry.

Emma Rose Company has changed a lot over the years. Then again — so have I!

THE BEGINNING

This little company
has lived a few lives.

Emma Rose Company started because I fell in love with making things.

First there were paper flowers made out of coffee filters. Yes, really. Then photography. Weddings. Families. Brands. Websites. Workshops. Blogging. Somewhere along the way, this creative outlet turned into an actual business — and then into a pretty big piece of my identity.

For years, I was constantly creating for other people. I loved it.

I also eventually learned that loving soething doesn’t automatically mean you’re supposed to keep doing it the exact same way forever.

So I changed things. Several times, actually.

Welcome to being a human.

THE HOUSE & THE RANCH

After years of talking about it, planning for it and making approximately one million decisions along the way, we built our forever home on our family’s land here in Southwest Washington.

The house became a huge part of what I started sharing online — mostly because I couldn’t stop talking about it.

And somewhere in the middle of documenting cabinets and flooring and all the little decisions that go into building a house, I realized there was a much bigger story happening right outside our windows.

The ranch.

Shaun grew up in this world, I married into it. And after years of knowing just enough about ranching to tell people we have Black Angus cattle, I’ve decided I actually want to understand it.

So part of this next chapter is me learning — and bringing you along while I do.
